What We Walked Into
Unit 2030 was a mess of things that had piled up over time. A wood cart loaded with tools and clamps sat right at the entrance, blocking everything behind it. Gas cylinders were tucked against the wall. Red pallet jacks sat on the concrete floor near the door. Behind all of it, a metal shelving unit leaned at an angle, half-blocked by loose boards and boxes stacked wherever they’d fit. How We Handled It
Our crew went in, cleared the wood cart, gas cylinders, and pallet jacks first to open up floor space, then worked through the boxes and loose boards stacked around the leaning shelving unit. Once the floor was clear, we straightened and reset the shelving so it stood flat against the wall instead of tilting into the walkway. What was left got organized onto the shelves — boxes stacked neat, a fan and other gear set on top where it belonged instead of on the floor. When we left, the unit had an open path down the middle and shelving anyone could actually use. Swept and ready.

Tips for Your Own Storage Cleanout
- Clear the entrance first. If you can’t get past what’s blocking the door, you can’t get to anything else — start there.
- Check shelving before you load it up. A leaning unit under weight is a hazard waiting to happen. Straighten or replace it before you stack anything else on it.
- Group similar items together. Tools with tools, boxes with boxes. It makes the next cleanout — or the next time you need something — a lot faster.
- Don’t store what you won’t use. Old pallet jacks and scrap boards eat up space that could hold things you actually need.
